New Program for Practitioners at Seattle University

Organization Systems Renewal icon

New in 2008, this certification program, awarded by the Organization Systems Renewal Graduate Program of Seattle University, gives individual practitioners the competencies and confidence to engage with changing organizational systems. Grounded in theory, design, and methodology, this specially-designed program is a natural extension of the OSR Masters program.

Program description and course goals — Grounded in an approach to change that was developed in the context of two generations of intensive research

Design — Emphasizes learning by choice, joint design and experimentation and working with real time examples

Schedule — Sessions are at Seattle University over two full, non-residential days: Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Based on my own experience with the application of the theory and practice of this offering, I view this program as a preview of organization development practices ten years in the future. Nearly two years ago, as a friend of the Whidbey Institute, I was invited to join 25 folks to spend 3 days exploring the emergent destiny and future of the Institute. The experience was unlike any other I have had: it brought out all of the inherent properties of the organization, connected the participants with the organization’s deep purpose, raised up the patterns that were no longer serving the organization, and concluded with a clear set of steps to take to renew the organization and put it on a sustainable trajectory. In the intervening two years, I have joined the board of the Whidbey Institute and have observed a transformation of the organization that was birthed in the process that was designed and facilitated by the individuals who are the faculty guides for this initial OSR Post-grad Certificate offering.
